Frances Ryan: An Invented Land

August 16 to September 15

Opening Reception:  Saturday, August 17, 3 – 5 pm

“The past is always an invented land” – Orhan Pamuk

Frances Ryan explores early childhood memories when she lived in County Sligo.  The fallibility of memory ensures that there is invention woven into each piece.  Experimenting with collage, oil paint and resin to create layers, similar to layers of time, she creates evocative pieces that achieve a kind of universal key to memory.

Based in Northern Ireland, Ryan has shown extensively throughout Ireland.  This is her second solo show at the Catherine Hammond Gallery.
