Siobhán McDonald: SOJOURN

In between time and space, layers of paint, bitumen, bees wax and desiccated charcoal, is a poetic state of flux, motion, exploration, and sense of haunting ambiguity.

Such are the works of Siobhán McDonald in Sojourn, on show from June 28 through July 23. Inspired by her travels to places as disparate as West Cork mountains and sea coasts and southeast Asian rainforests, McDonald’s new paintings evoke dreamy yet tactile, multi-layered experiences of surfaces and textures that sometimes read as landscape, sky, water and natural growth.

Siobhán McDonald lives and works in Dublin. Born in New York and brought up in Monaghan, she trained in Belfast, Amsterdam, and New York. She has shown extensively in Ireland, New York and Belfast. Her work is in important public and private collections in Ireland, Europe, and the United States.
