Carol Hodder investigates experiences of transient senses of light, space, time, memories or emotions, with very expressive, semi-abstract painting. A 2019 residency in Ireland has led to a new exploration of different kinds of space and light, complementing her continuing fascination with Irish land, sky and water. A self-taught artist, she lives south of Cork City, and has shown with the Solomon Gallery in Dublin and also at the Royal Academy in London. In 2015 she won the Republic of Ireland award for the UK’s National Open Art Exhibition and her prize-winning work toured throughout the UK. Her recent solo show at the Solomon Gallery was very successful.
