Catherine Weld’s current work aims to distill the experience of being in the complex but fragile West Cork landscape as it comes under increasing threat from changes in climate and the ravages inflicted on it by man. Although a newcomer, having moved here in 2012, the passionate connection she feels with the landscape seems inevitable given her life-long love of West Cork, which dates from childhood visits to her mother’s family in the area.
She has exhibited widely: at the RA Summer Show in London, the RUA in Belfast, and the Vue Art Fair, RHA, Dublin, and regularly with the Blue House Gallery, Schull, West Cork.
