Martin Gale’s landscape is inevitably a social landscape. He tends to look at the character of places and people who inhabit them with the clear eyes of a dramatist, giving the viewer a narrative that always needs teasing out. While born in England in 1949, Gale moved to Ireland as a boy. Since the mid 1970s he has shown extensively in Ireland and England, and more recently, in Europe. He is a member of the RHA and Aosdana, and is represented by the Taylor Galleries in Dublin. He lives and works in Co. Kildare.
