Linda Shevlin: Re: Place
An exhibition of new work opens June 17th and runs through July 6th. The opening reception is on Saturday, June 18th from 3 to 5 pm.
Linda Shevlin makes lyrical, atmospheric paintings about place and time. Says Shevlin, “I use the building up of layers of paint as a metaphor for memory. I am primarily interested in how the imagination recreates the past and the conflict between remembering and reality. In this work, I explore the void between actual place and memory.”
A 1996 graduate of Dublin Institute of Technology, Shevlin has had recent solo shows at the Hallward Gallery, Dublin; Triskel Arts Centre, Cork: Model Arts & Niland Gallery, Sligo; and Signal Arts Centre, Wicklow.
