Since it’s invention, photography has influenced painting. This group show features work by five artists who are inspired by or appropriate photography regularly in their work. Catherine Barron and Oonagh Hurley interpret old family photographs to excavate universal memories and family narratives. Frances Ryan uses photo transfers in her paintings to create an energy or tension around what is being seen. Wendy Seller paints on photographic prints and then re-photographs them, exploring layers of symbols and fantasy.  Cara Thorpe uses a collection of her own photographs to inspire her paintings of imaginary places.
